T-Ball

Since I found out I was having twin boys, I've looked forward to the day I could sit on the side lines, and watch them play sports, or perform in school plays, or do whatever activities they choose to do.  I can't believe it, but they are now at the age that they can play T-Ball, and it fills me with pride to see them out on the field learning (even if that learning comes in the form of laying on the grass or tackling each other to get to the ball).  I have a ton of pictures again, so I put together another slide show so that I didn't have to pick and choose.  I hope you enjoy!

On another note, one of the boys' best little buddies, Elias, plays for the same league, but on a different team.  We had the pleasure of playing them a couple of weeks ago, and it was so cute to watch them so excited to see each other, even if they were fraternizing with the enemy!  There were lots of high-fives, waves, and smiles...loved it!  I also couldn't help but notice that there seems to be a new defensive strategy when it comes to glove location these days, no matter what team...

Happy Easter!

I hope you all had a great Easter - we did!  The boys decorated their eggs Saturday, which is always fun.

Frog position is key in good egg coloring....just a helpful hint I thought I'd pass on.

Then this morning we woke up to a house-full of hidden eggs, which was very exciting.  From the moment the boys came out of their room, they could barely contain themselves.

We got a lot of "This is my best Easter ever!" and "This is awesome."  I'm sure it made the Easter Bunny feel good that his efforts were appreciated.  They were both thrilled beyond belief at the amount of sugar they collected.

Easter 2013_12

This year the Easter Bunny threw in a little extra...the boys got some Legos too.  At this point in the day, Jack hadn't built his blue sports car yet, but he was very excited about it (and got to build it later at Grandma and Mevie's house).

But Owen's first task, immediately following the inhalation of as many jelly beans as he could get his hands on, was to build his airplane.  He spent almost two hours on it, and did the first 3/4 of it himself, only calling Daddy in for help towards the end.  So proud of both of them!

As we tucked the boys into bed tonight, and were leaving the room, they both said, "Mommy and Daddy, you're my best adults ever." Which was immediately amended to, "Mommy and Daddy and the Easter Bunny are my best adults ever."  We'll take it.  Jack and Owen are my best kids ever...in the whole wide world.

And who said cats can't enjoy Easter?  Maverick sat and watched the festivities from the best seat, in his opinion, in the house.  Yes, he somehow managed to jam his big, fluffy, adorable rump into that little box.

No Training Wheels!

A few weeks ago, Daddy decided he wanted to start teaching the boys how to ride their bikes without training wheels (they seemed to be more of a hindrance than help!).  Unfortunately, we haven't been very consistent, but they did great their first time out!  Even through the falls, they were brave and good-spirited (I was more nervous that they were).  Here are a few pics...as you can see, their tongues were helping them balance and focus!

Train Fun

As most boys do, our boys like trains (eh hem...excuse the MAJOR understatement for Jack).  Most of you know our house looks out over a field, and beyond that a railroad track.  The boys can watch trains go by from our bedroom window, and they often jet up the stairs to watch anytime we hear one coming.  A couple of weeks ago, a train was stopped on the track for quite a while, and after several hours we decided to go take a closer look.

Here is our little adventure!

WHAT???  My name on a train??  It doesn't get better than that.

Shockingly, there was no Owen written on the train, but we did find a nice big O!

Memories of Christmas...

I'm very, very, very sorry for this...(and thanks to Daddy for his assistance on a few things!).

'Twas the day of Christmas, when there was a knock at the door.
It was a Grandma and Grandpa with presents galore!
How did the boys thank them?
Did they dance, did they sing?
No, they attacked their dear Mevie with green silly string.

Mevie Dressed in Silly String

Did Clarkie like that?
How did he feel?
His face said it all, "Are you for real??"

Clark_Say What?

Then Owen rushed over and pleaded, "Please forgive us!
I promise we did it in the spirit of Christmas!
I have something to show you that's yummy and sticky;
It might cheer you up...it's a cookie Mickey!
I decorated it myself, mommy and daddy about cried.
It nearly brought tears, they were so full of pride."

Owen's Mickey Cookie

Clark looked and considered, but wasn't so sure;
he thought the cookie was kind of obscure.
He sat in his chair, in his thinking position, admitting it was pretty funny
to see poor Mevie covered in goo that was green and slimy and runny.

Clark3

Jack and his tongue were elated to hear that all had been forgiven,
so decided to show Clark how remote-control cars are driven.

Owen decided to jump in on the fun, sporting his new snazzy glasses.
He sipped from a cup, and filled his mouth with apple juice full of gases.

Clark was delighted, I'm happy to say, that his cousins are so silly.
Jack and Owen would do just about anything to make their cuz smile...really!

Later that night, after lots of bubbly,
Owen rolled up his sleeves for a show.
He bared his forearm to display a tattoo
of an angry bird we've all come to know.

Clark was shocked, and had no words to say;
He could only think, "No way, dude.  No way."

Then an extra fun gift from Aunt Jamie was opened,
something the boys could scratch.
Their first lotto tickets were quite the hit, and they actually had a match!

What a Christmas we had, with lots of loved ones,
we couldn't have asked for more.
Most special was having Clarkie here for the very first time, whom we all love and adore.

Ok, sorry.  I'll stop.  That just got worse and worse as I got more and more tired!  We had the most wonderful Christmas...the best yet.  Lots of family and friends.  We are very blessed.  Hope you all are just as lucky as me.

And because I couldn't resist my little munchkins decorating skills, here are Santa's cookies (and a carrot for the reindeer that somehow got eaten before Santa arrived...oops!).

Disneyland 2012!

We were in Disneyland the week before Thanksgiving, and I have a TON of pictures.  I figured rather than post a zillion pictures, I'd put together a little slide show (a heads up in case you're watching at work, there's music).  Please excuse the glazed over look the boys have in some pictures...they ended up getting sick =P  We still had a lot of fun though...they're troopers!  Hope you all enjoy!

Have a good week!

P.S. Still eating pie!!!
P.P.S.  I don't think I ever posted last year's Disneyland pics...yikes.  Sorry about that.  I'll have to take a look and see if I can find a few cute ones.
P.P.P.S.  If any of you are on Instagram, I've recently been having fun with it.  My user name is JocMcLean...just more pics of the boys and our family!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.  I'm grateful for a lot of things, not the least of which is the delicious pie I'm eating as I write (thanks, Mom!), but the thing I'm most grateful for is our family.  I am beyond fortunate to have such a supportive, patient, helpful, kind, thoughtful, loving family.  I could not have asked for better.  Thank you, and I love you all!

We were very lucky to have most of our family together yesterday (missed those of you who weren't there!).  I know very few people get to celebrate with everyone, and are usually either traveling between get-togethers, or having to choose one family over the other.  We've been blessed to be able to bring everyone together for most holidays, and I think it makes it so special for the boys.  Here are some pictures from our celebration...
